Meditation - working with the mind:
The two primary meditation practices we teach (mindfulness of breathing and metta bhavana - friendliness / loving kindness) are ancient practices that aim to settle the wandering mind, bring clarity about and change unhelpful habitual thinking patterns and connect with more positive emotions.
Other important practices include: body meditation (the body being the repository of mental states, how we experience ourselves as sensory beings and the means of acting in the world) and just sitting (in the quietness allowing our whole being to be just as it is).
Meditation allows us to settle and find an accepting and aware mind space in which we can allow the daily workings and windings of the mind to come to rest. We can feel refreshed and have a more creative approach to life in sometimes surprising ways.
