We have a meditation and Buddhism evening every Thursday from 7.30 - 9.30 pm. We usually close for one or two Thursdays over Yuletide.
The evenings are open to everyone regardless of experience, age, gender, race, class. A warm welcome awaits - just turn up - we're on the ground floor, through the front door and to the left.
There is usually someone on site by 7.00 pm if you fancy coming earlier.
We start with meditation at 7.30 pm.
Venue: Quaker Meeting House, 34 Mill Road, Worthing, West Sussex, BN11 5DR
Finding Us: The Quaker Meeting House is on the north side of Mill Road (A259) between Grand Avenue and West Avenue (look for the dark blue sign). Ten minutes walk from West Worthing Station, five minutes walk from Goring shopping parade. Bus no. 700 stops in Mill Road a few minutes walk away (Grand Avenue stop). If you drive please park in West Avenue.
Practising with Others:
Many say that coming to the evenings is the first time they have been able to come just as they are without having to be anything in particular or bend to other's expectations. Meditation and Buddhism offer a guide to leading a more authentic and creative life without telling you what this will look like for you. Each person's potential emerges naturally out of regular practice. Experiencing this with like minded people develops confidence and can support our progress.
Regular Evenings start with the mindfulness of breathing or metta bhavana (loving kindness or friendliness) meditation practices, followed by a talk or discussion and then tea.
The First Thursday of each month is a meditation practice evening. We usually have a short puja (a devotional practice to help connect with our aspirations) at the end of the evening. There is no expectation you should join in with the puja but you are welcome to simply listen and make up your own mind.
